Auditor.

In accordance with your instructions I have carried

out a detailed examination of the accounts kept in the Passport

Office, during the latter part of the period it was under the

control of the Colonial Secretary's office, and during the first

six months it was under the supervision of the Police Department.

I have the honour to append here to a report upon the

results of my examination.

2.

Sources of Revenue.

Revenue is derived from the following sources:-

(a) Passports

Issue of

$10.00 each.

Period examined

1st January 1937 to 5th

January, 1939.

(b) Visas on Passports

Cost of each is variable.

Period examined

9th May, 1938 to 10th

January, 1939.

(c) Endorsements - Residential $4.00 each with

variations.

Endorsements for other purposes

$4.00 each.

Enclosure I.

(a) Renewals of Passports

Cost $2.00 p.a. with a

maximum charge of $10.00 for five years validity.

Period examined Karch to December, 1938.

(e) Certificates - $4.00 each.

These cover certificates for Travel, Emergency,

Identity, Servant and Jamaican Travel.

Period examined 1st January, 1938 to 31st

December, 1938.

(f) Official Signatures.

No examination undertaken.
